For a bit of background, I've never done any type of waxing at home. I normally go out to get it done or I just shave. However, when the salons closed at the start of COVID, I knew I wanted to try waxing at home. I heard about sugar wax from social media, and since it's made from organic ingredients, I had no problem using that on my skin. I thought about making my own sugar paste at home, but my laziness kicked in, so buying a paste that was guaranteed to work seemed like the better option. The Sugaring NYC Hair Removal Kit was the perfect beginner kit for at home sugar waxing. About Sugaring NYCSugaring NYC is a salon operating at 9 different locations in 3 different states (New York, Massachusetts, Illinois). At Sugaring NYC, they offer organic "waxing" that is done with sugar paste, which is made of only three ingredients: sugar, water, and lemon juice. That means it's edible! The sugar wax is gentle for the skin (no burns since it is never hot, no ripped skin since it doesn't adhere to live skin cells, etc.) It lasts longer than regular waxing, and it even works for shorter hair, so you don't have to grow your hair out. For those of you who don't live in any of those three states with a Sugaring NYC salon, they have an official supply store where they sell their sugaring paste for you to do your own sugar wax at home. I was pretty nervous at first, but I started off with a small section on my leg. It was pretty difficult at first to be quite honest. I was sweating in my bathroom and it honestly felt like a whole workout. However, after I got a hang of it, the whole process definitely got a lot easier. I even tried waxing my underarms and down there. Waxing down there was the easiest for me and was pretty painless, which was surprising because I was expecting it to hurt the most. After I finished waxing down there, it made me realize that it was harder to wax my legs and underarms because there wasn't much hair growth. I was just excited to try out the sugar paste, so I guess the hair could have been longer, so I will definitely try again when the hair grows back and next time I'll make sure it's the proper length. The tub of sugar wax can definitely go a long way. Because it was my first time, I definitely used a bit too much on all my failed attempts, so my jar is more than halfway gone after my sister and I both tried. With more experience, I know that one jar would last me many waxes, and that's so much more affordable than I thought waxing would ever be.
